Loft Conversions

Loft conversions are almost always possible in most UK homes. In general, we highly underutilise loft space. We mostly use it for nothing more than storage. By Converting lofts into much wanted and needed space you can create a stylish and functional addition to your home.  A loft conversion can be used as a bedroom, a study, or a leisure room. Furthermore, it can be utilized for smart storage with built-in cupboards or a media room!

Loft conversions are a cost-effective and functional addition to your home which adds considerable value. Also, consider that most of the necessary structure is already there.  A Nationwide study found that a loft conversion which added an extra bedroom & en-suite bathroom would add an average of 21% to the value of your property.  In London, according to another study, the increase in value is likely to be even higher, at 24.5%.

The best way to add value to a property fast is to do a loft conversion that doesn’t require any planning permission. I have seen developers add nearly 30% at a cost of around 7% in London.

Other benefits to consider is the fact that you do not lose valuable outdoor space. Consequently, there are no concerns about blocking out light or overshadowing adjacent properties.

At Ardelean Group we guarantee a functional and efficient space that works for you and your home when you opt for a loft conversion.  We have extensive building experience in loft conversions.  We are extremely creative with the layout of the space itself ensuring ample storage space still while having room to move around.

Are all properties suitable for loft conversions?

Not every property is suitable for a loft conversion, but you can convert most loft spaces without planning permission. (You can find more information about loft conversions here)

If you have a loft and want to know if you can convert it, you can start by measuring the head height. The minimum height you need for a loft conversion is 2.2m, and you can easily measure this yourself. Take a tape measure and run it from the floor to the ceiling at the tallest part of the room. If it’s 2.2m or more, your loft should be tall enough to convert.
